The Dzo Jongo Peak expedition in Ladakh is an exhilarating 10 -day mountaineering trek offering an ascent of the 6,250-meter towering peak surrounded by the scenic Markha Valley. It is ideal for trekkers with some high-altitude experience seeking a challenging yet non-technical climb. The journey begins with acclimatization in Leh (3,500m), followed by drives and hikes through rugged terrains and pristine Himalayan landscapes. The base camp sits around 5,200m, from where the summit push entails a steep 14 km (round trip) hike gaining over 1,000m in elevation in a day lasting 11-12 hours. The ascent involves traversing rocky slopes, patches of snow, and crevasses with careful navigation on steep inclines. Once at the summit, breathtaking panoramic views of Kang Yatse and surrounding peaks reward the effort. The expedition is supported with camping, technical gear, guides, and meals along the trek. The adventure demands physical fitness, cardiovascular endurance and readiness for the cold, unpredictable weather.
